A Flawed Opinion Whenever someone thinks of CO2, they think of global warming. They are reminded of Al Gore and his stance on global warming and they automatically think it is true. He has a lot of evidence to back up his theory about how global warming exists and that it is the reason animals are going extinct and also why the climate is changing. Well these facts are wrong and there is evidence to prove it. Global warming is not real and the Earth might even be in a cooling period. There so many reasons to blame people for the epidemic of this false global warming. CO2, a naturally produced gas absorbed by oceans and trees could not be the reason, so what could? Well, nothing can, none of man’s efforts to control the climate will†¦show more content†¦People assume that just because there are clouds of smog over cities and industrial areas, that it is because of all the carbon dioxide being released into the air. There is also type of smog called photochemical smog which was recentl y discovered in the 1950’s. Aus-e-tute’s The Chemistry of Photochemical Smog refers to photochemical smog as, â€Å"a type of air pollution produced when sunlight acts upon motor vehicle exhaust gases to form harmful substances such as ozone (O3), aldehydes and peroxyacetylnitrate (PAN).† When some see this they think, wow, all the carbon being released from the burning of fossil fuels in cars can lead to these toxic chemicals. That is where they are wrong. Aus-e-tute also sets apart the type of gasses from cars that cause these chemicals. They explain that, â€Å"Motor vehicles produce exhaust gases containing oxides of nitrogen such as nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and nitric oxide (NO).† Again no carbon was the effect of a potentially harmful chemical byproduct. Later in his article John Coleman explains some of the main components of our atmosphere. Most of the air we breathe today is mostly nitrogen. He says in page 3 of his article that â€Å"†¦in fr ont of my face contains 100,000 molecules of atmosphere. Of those 100,000, 38 are CO2: 38 out of a hundred thousand. That makes it a trace component†¦how can this tiny trace disrupt the entire balance of the climate of Earth.
